ADVOCACY
IFI FILMS ARE NOT ONLY ENGAGING AND ENTERTAINING, BUT THOUGHT-PROVOKING. OUR FILMMAKERS ARE TRULY INDEPENDENT CREATIVE THINKERS WHO ARE NOT TIED TO POLITICAL CORRECTNESS OR SAMENESS. THEY HAVE A POWERFUL STORY WITH A POWERFUL MESSAGE. IFI SEEKS TO BRING TOGETHER PEOPLE OF VARIOUS VIEWPOINTS TO FACILITATE MEANINGFUL DISCUSSION. TODAY, MANY FESTIVALS ARE OVERLY POLITICAL AND ONLY SEEM TO PROMOTE CERTAIN THOUGHT. FILMS CHOSEN BY IFI BREAK THE MOLD. THEY MIGHT CHALLENGE AN ASPECT OF ENVIRONMENTALISM, FOR EXAMPLE. OR THEY MIGHT PROVIDE A BETTER UNDERSTANDING OF IT. WE SIMPLY WANT FILMS THAT HAVE A STRONG INDEPENDENT MESSAGE AND TELL THE STORY WELL. OUR FILMS ARE ALSO OFTEN EXPERIMENTAL AND PUSH THE CRAFT IN NEW DIRECTIONS WHILE STILL ILLUSTRATING A MASTERY OF THE BASICS. WE WELCOME CHRISTIAN FILMS AS WELL AS FILMS PRODUCED BY ATHEISTS AND AGNOSTICS. HOWEVER, IFI BELIEVES THAT ANY STORY CAN BE TOLD MORE POWERFULLY WITHOUT EXCESSIVE VIOLENCE, PROFANITY, OR OTHER GRAPHIC CONTENT. OUR FILMS ARE, THEREFORE, VIEWABLE TO ALMOST ANYONE. WE ADVOCATE FOR FILMS THAT DEMONSTRATE MASTERY OF THE CRAFT, HAVE FRESH SOLID SCRIPTS, CONTENT, OR STORIES, AND LEAVE THE AUDIENCE WANTING MORE. IFI FESTIVALS ARE ENLIGHTENING, REFRESHING, AND POWERFULLY ENTERTAINING.
PRESENTATION
IT IS ONE THING TO MAKE A GREAT FILM WITH A GREAT MESSAGE, BUT FILMMAKERS NEED A VENUE TO PRESENT THEIR WORK TO AN AUDIENCE. IFI PROVIDES A UNIQUE VENUE FOR TALENTED FILMMAKERS TO PRESENT THEIR WORK TO AN ENGAGED AUDIENCE. IFI MEMBERS OR THOSE WHO PURCHASE TICKETS TO OUR FESTIVAL GET TO ENJOY IFI’S NEWEST FILM SELECTIONS.
2021 IFI FILM FESTIVAL WILL BE ONLINE SATURDAY APRIL 24TH FROM 11AM – 3:30PM ET.

IFI will host the 2021 Festival online. There will be two film segments. Viewers have the choice of purchasing tickets for either segment or can purchase a discounted ticket for both segments.
The first segment will include six films and start at 11am ET. Three of the films are by a talented filmmaker from Iowa named Severn Lang. He will join us to discuss his unique films and answer questions from you. A colorful documentary about helping those who’ve suffered persecution in other countries will be next. Then we have a 30 minute throwback comedy called Skidoo Ruins. The director, Craig Calman, who worked with the great Laurel and Hardy director Hal Roach and famous actress Betty Davis will be with us to answer your questions about the film. And finally, our foreign film this year is a thriller by Italian filmmaker, Filippo Giani. And that will close out the first segment at 1:30 pm.
Continuing our tradition of Saluting the Veterans, the second segment is a tribute to those who served. There will be three films, all produced by veterans. The first film is Casualty of Time and Jeremiah Jahi, director, will be with us to discuss the film. Then we have a beautiful music video featuring a new song by Stephen Covell who served as a combat medic in the 82 Airborne on two tours during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Operation Encore, who helped produce the film, is a non-profit veterans organization that provides opportunities for veteran and active duty singer-songwriters and musicians to take their music to the next level through artist development, professional recording, and industry-focused educational services. Members of the crew and Operation Encore will join us. And to end the Veterans Tribute, “We Left as Brothers,” a story about Vietnam vets returning to visit Vietnam, will be screened. My festival is an official fundraiser for the Wounded Warrior Project, and now also for Operation Encore. We will have a direct Donate link to Operation Encore on our website.
